An almost forgotten relative of pears and mountain ash, this species will grow to be a large, very upright shade tree with an impressively sturdy appearance. It won't just throw shade though. It will also throw fruit all over the ground (once mature of course)! These bite size fruits may be hard to pick from the tall trees, but fortunately they fall while still firm so they can be gathered from the ground and set aside to be eaten a few at a time as they blet (a natural ripening process in which the hard tannic fruit transform it into soft, sweet fruit). A mature tree will produce food for humans, but you should also consider it for use as a supplemental food producing shade tree for livestock when planted in pastures or poultry yards.
Service trees are deciduous and will be shipped while dormant which means they will be without leaves.
These plants were grown outdoors un USDA climate zone 8a.
To keep shipping price low and to ensure maximum phytosanitary security, this plant will be shipped bare root with all soil removed and roots wrapped to keep them moist.
Shipping options:
USPS Priority Mail - plant will be sent bare root with no soil or pot (automatically insured via USPS up to $100 value)
