Bordissot Negra Rimada Rooted Cutting in a 4"x9" Tree-Pot

Up for auction is this rooted cutting of Bordissot Negra Rimada.  Besides being one of the most beautiful figs in my collection, the taste is exquisite!   It has that rich berry flavor profile that I love.  This one has that burst of jammy syrup that's to die for!   It's only downfall would be that it’s a bit later here in Michigan that what I would like. If you're in a warmer area than me, you should have no issues.  Seems like all the striped figs are later for us northern growers.   But with all that said, I feel this fig will grow to be one of the top figs in my collection and should be grown by everyone.  I've also noticed that BNR is a little bit of a light rooter and I'm asking that buyers take extra care when removing this variety from it's container.   

The 4"x9" plants that I'm listing have recently emerged from dormancy and were planted last year.    Because of this, please note that the roots are also emerging from dormancy.  When you remove them from their container to plant them, please understand that the root system will support the plant, even though it may not be as robust as one that's sold later in the season, from a southern grower or a grower that's been growing them in a greenhouse for some time.

The starting bid on this variety is the "Reserve" and I believe it to be a more than fair price based on demand and this years recent sales. Buy it now disappears with the first bid.

My name is Dan Foster.   I’ve been growing figs since 2011 and it’s become a passion of mine that I hope you’ll find to be as rewarding and enjoyable as I have.  My goal when I began this obsession was to grow and taste as many varieties as I can to find the best tasting figs for my area.  Each year I add a few dozen and try to cull a few dozen.   This is still true today.   You can find me on Facebook and the "Ourfigs" fig forum.   As with any collector, all of my figs should be assumed to have been exposed in some way to FMV Fig Mosaic Virus.  When young, figs will often show more severe symptoms, but most of the time many of them grow out of this as long as good growing and fertilizing practices are in place.

You will receive the exact plant that is photographed.  This one is grown in a 4”x9” Stuewe & Sons Tree-pot along with a professional growing mix.   These pots make shipping and growing cuttings a breeze and are easy to transplant.   It should have a very nice root system and should rebound from transplanting easily.  Once transplanted, I think it’s always a good idea to place the newly planted tree in a shadier location for a week just to make sure it can recover adequately in its new environment.   This is especially true when replanting in a southern location or when the temperatures are above 80.   The Heat and sun intensity can be quite different in Texas for example compared to Michigan.

Some notes on Shipping: 

My growing operation has been inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.  I'm licensed to ship to ALL US states.  However, I will not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, or Idaho. Sellers selling plants with the comments "Buyers are responsible for knowing their states laws on importing live plants." do so irresponsibly.  There are many new sellers entering in the fig market lately.   I think it's great for the hobby, but sellers that are not properly inspected should be avoided. 

I will ship Tuesday-Friday purchases on Saturday and Saturday-Monday purchases on Monday/Tuesday (in case of a holiday, this may change slightly).  The faster your invoice is paid, the faster I can get your plants out.   Please make sure your Figbid and Paypal shipping address is current and accurate.  Combined shipping is available automatically upon invoice with multiple auctions being won or purchased through FigBid within the same week.  Figbid combines these automatically, so it's best to wait and pay after all of the auctions you're bidding on for that week are complete, otherwise you will be charged the full shipping charge with each invoice.  I always prefer USPS, but boxes over 22" cost quite a bit more to ship.   I will use UPS or Fedex if plants go over the 22" mark.   Please reach out to me beforehand if there is an issue with that.
