Description

Up for auction is this well rooted cutting of my Yellow Long Neck parent tree. This is an earlier ripening fig. I chose this variety for my home potted fig orchard in NE Illinois where we have a shorter growing season. If the weather cooperates, I start getting ripe YLN figs in early August. Good producer, these figs are huge. My YLN figs averaged a whopping 106 grams! These figs are delicious, golden and sugary, not a berry fig. My fig friends have told me this may be a Golden Rainbow or Golden Riverside. I purchased my parent tree from an orchard in Oregon as a Yellow Long Neck. Other fig people say they are all the same. You decide.

The baby tree pictured is the tree you will receive. It’s in a clear plastic cup, you can see the nice root system. I started these cuttings from my parent trees on 2/23/2024. They were planted in an inert combination of peat and perlite so no gnats. They have been grown indoors under full spectrum grow lights so it will need gentle adjustment to full sun. Also, please up-pot with caution. The root systems are young and easily damaged.

I have also pictured the fruit from the parent tree so you can see what you can expect. I only sell rooted cuttings from my personal collection of trees that have fruited for me. I have enjoyed fruit from the parent tree since 2021. As you can see, the neck is not super-long.

I charge a flat shipping fee of $12.00. I can combine multiple wins for an additional $2 each.

I'm Steve, I bought my first fig tree in 2017 (Greek Brown Turkey) after tasting a tree ripened fig for the first time, from a farmers market in California. I was hooked. I started collecting several other varieties that year then continued to acquire trees that sounded delicious and had shorter growing season requirements. I started selling a handful of varieties on Figbid in 2022, both local pickup and shippable trees. I have more varieties to offer this season over the coming weeks.

Thanks for visiting.

My warranty:

Shipping live plants is a bit tricky, especially in hot weather. I package them with care. If it arrives hot, carefully unpack it, water it, put it in a cool shady spot to recover. Figs are very hardy, it may lose some leaves after the journey but will bounce back. Once recovered, you may transplant it to a larger pot. If your plant dies due to shipping stress, I will refund your money after 30 days. Please send me photos, I will work with you to resolve the issue. Please take pictures of the packaging and plant if it arrives damaged. You may need to provide the packaging to your post office during the claim process.

Disclaimer:

I assume all of my figs may carry or may have been exposed to at least one variant of the fig mosaic virus. Figs up for sale appear healthy and vigorous. Buyers are responsible for knowing their state laws governing imports.
