Description

The Ginger Gold apple is a yellow variety that came into commercial production in the 1980s, but its original seedling dates back to the late 1960s.  As of 2008, it was one of the 15 most popular apple cultivars in the United States.  It ripens early compared to other apple varieties.

The apple is fairly large and canonical in shape.  The skin a very light green and turns yellow. It's flesh is a typical cream color.  Good for eating-as-is or baking.

Special Requirements:

  • This is NOT a fig variety, but a scion wood cutting from an apple tree meant to be granted onto apple root stock or another apple tree's branch
  • Requires another cross-pollinating apple species for fruiting.  Best matches with a tree which blooms in mid Spring.
  • Suitable for growing in zones 5-8.

Cutting Handing:  Scion wood cuttings are sealed in plastic and stored refrigerated until shipped.

Here is what you can expect:

  • Cuttings will be at least pencil thickness at the base.

  • Cuttings will be cut with sharp, IPA-cleansed pruning shears.

  • Cuttings will have the variety labeled.

About Me: Hi, my handle is DroneDaddy (because I like to fly drones), but my name is Mike. I am an amateur horticulturalist that likes to raise figs and other fruit trees as a hobby. I have been growing fruit trees for 15 years. I live and grow figs in Severna Park, MD in Zone 7b.
