Dana's brown honey fig (unknown variety)

Grows well in the Maritime PNW Z9-8b, ripening in September through October.  Produces an abundance of medium-sized striated purple-brown fruit with yellow flesh and a rich, sweet flavor.  Leaves are large and smooth with 3-7 lobes.  Attractive form and suitable for container culture, the mother tree is grown in a 10-gal. pot as an informal fan espalier.

Originally collected from Dana's cultivated tree of unknown variety, at 15 years old (planted yr. ~2000), with an upright form 12' tall x 10' wide, grown in an open grass field in Redmond, WA.  The original tree produced several gallons of figs over the month of September.

Similar to Vern's Brown Turkey.

Size at Maturity: 12’ ft in height, smaller with pruning
Taste: Rich, sweet
Fruit Skin: Purple-brown
