This is a widely known fig, originally sold by Belleclaire Nursery on Long Island (BC35), who believed it was from Malta and a 'grandparent' to Celeste. In leaf appearance, fig season, productivity, and fig color, size and flavor it seems to be in the Mt. Etna class, though some have reported better flavor. It has some degree of cold tolerance.

I’ve been growing and trialing figs in southwestern Wisconsin for 30 years. My focus was on container figs which will ripen in Wisconsin without a greenhouse, but now that I have an unheated hoophouse & I’ve been putting many varieties in the ground.

I run a Facebook group called NORTHERN FIG GROWERS which has 17K+ members.  I also sell cuttings of currants, grapes, elderberries, willows, kiwis and scionwood of pears and mulberries.
