White Madeira #1 cuttings -- as close to original source as you can get

You are bidding on three White Madeira #1 cuttings that were chosen among the group of cuttings shown in the photo.  Each cutting has at least 3 nodes.  The cuttings were taken on Nov. 17, 2018 and have been refrigerated since then. All of the WM#1 stock circulating in the fig community traces back to my mother tree so these cuttings (which are from that tree) are as direct to the source as you can get.

A fig grower known as ‘Tam’ on the old figs4fun forum obtained this variety in 2013 from a friend of Greek heritage living in Silver Spring, MD.  His Greek friend said that the variety came from Madeira Island.  I obtained a rooted cutting from Tam in 2014 and am still growing the that tree.  It was almost killed by voles last winter but has rebounded well.  (Unfortunately the Greek man's tree was killed and Tam is no longer growing this variety.)  This fig could be compared to Adriatic JH and Battaglia Green but seems to be in a class of its own.  When perfectly ripened it is among the best tasting figs in my collection.  It is also relatively cold hardy and as an in-ground tree here in zone 7a ripens its fruit in early September. 

I participate on the ourfigs.com forum as 'Rewton' (and was a member of figs4fun for many years before the forum closed).  I have also sold fig cuttings and trees on ebay under username 'Gardenbear11'.
