Martinenca Rimada Tree (Grafted) - Excellent Spanish Variety

This excellent variety was originally introduced by another collector several years ago.  We've been growing this variety for about four years and it produced what I considered to be outstanding fruit in 2017.  Our tree has grown fairly well, but a bit slower than most of our trees.  Because of this, we decided to graft some cuttings onto established trees of Janice which has moderate vigor here.  This is one of those trees which was grafted on March 9, 2018.  The potted tree shown in the photo in this auction is the tree being sold.  It is growing well and is ready to be moved into a larger pot.  The yellow latex grafting sealer used to protect the graft union may be left in place indefinitely as it will expand and eventually fall off as the tree diameter increases.

This fig is unusual in that it started out with yellow and green stripes which turn to dark purple and dark red stripes as the fruit matures.  The fruit shown in the photos are from our mother tree.
