White Madeira #1 Fig Tree - rare fig variety originating from Madeira

This fig was made known to the fig collection community by a collector in Maryland who discovered some very old trees being grown by a Greek man who said that these figs were given to him by a friend from Madeira Portugal many years ago.  Our trees ripened a lot small to medium sized fruit that had a moderate rich berry flavor, moderately sweet, and jammy texture and mild to moderate seed crunch. Our trees were pruned heavily for cuttings last winter and will likely produce larger and even better fruit in the years ahead.  The fruit shown was picked from our mother tree.  We expect fruit to get larger in the years ahead as our trees mature.

The tree being sold in this auction (shown in photo) was started in November 2017 from a cutting taken from one of our mother trees.  The tree will be shipped in the pot shown and can be grown further in this pot or carefully transplanted into a larger pot.  I suggest cutting the existing pot down the corners to carefully remove the tree from the pot with minimal damage.  The tree will be carefully packed for safe shipping.  We ship trees only to US addresses.
