Description

These are Salavatski pom seeds.  I have many other trees in my orchard, so there's a good chance that these have cross-pollinated with other varieties.  You might come up with something unique and quite different.

This is the ultimate fig for the East coast.  It is cold hardy, disease-resistant, and delicious.  I have had mine in the ground for 12 years and it has only experienced severe dieback twice due to a late spring freeze.   And, it is also highly productive.

Let me add that Salvatski is far superior in taste to Wonderful, the conventional California variety that most stores sell.  Salavatski is not as ornamental, but the flavor is fantastic.  I conducted an informal taste test with my two kids and they were shocked at the difference in flavor.  I have included photos of both fruits and the arils.  Pom wonderful is the pretty purple fruit.  With figs, the California-grown fruit are always better tasking, but not in this case.  Salavatski is a California beater :-)

Salavatski is a large tree -- mine topped out at 12 feet.  It is highly ornamental.  I prune it four trunks in the shape of a vase and it is simply gorgeous. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions about growing poms.  It is my passion and I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with you.  I am Uteas on the ourfigs board.

You will receive 10 seeds.  Seeds take about 2 to 3 weeks to germinate.  I would soak them for 24 hours before planting.  They will require a bit of bottom heat unless you wait to summer to germinate them.  When they first sprout, they look like cabbage seedlings.  I have provided a photo for you to see what they look like.

I will ship immediately upon receipt of payment.  The fruit you see below are from my tree.
