Pichoto - FdM

Hello!

I am offering a well rooted tree of Pichoto. According to Figues du Monde, these come from an area of France renowned for dried figs, and these make exceptional dried fruit, even drying on the tree. My tree is young and I have so far only eaten the fruit fresh. It is quite good!

This tree began as a chip bud on a mature tree of a different variety. I air layered it off and planted it deep so that it is also on Pichoto roots. FYI, it is possible that future suckers could be of a different variety because of this grafting.

See photos for actual tree. It has been in fairly decent shade, I’ll begin easing it into more sun before shipping. Autumn is here and already claimed a couple leaves from this tree. Please be aware that more leaves may fall by the time of shipping.

I have a large fig collection and expect all my trees have been exposed to FMV. I am in CA but the nearest confirmed report of BFF is a 6 hour drive on the highway and I have my small trees segregated from fruiting trees just as a precaution should my fortunes change. I’m keeping very close eyes on this pest.
