Up for Sale is a rooted cutting of Figo Preto. The plant is very healthy. You will receive the exact plant that is pictured.  My rooted cutting offerings all already have well developed root systems and can be up potted into larger containers upon receipt. Once transplanted, I suggest you place the newly planted tree in a shadier location for a week just to make sure it can recover adequately in its new environment; this is especially true if buyer is in a southern location or when the temperatures are above 80.

In my fig orchard, Figo Preto figs produce the most amazing fruits in abundance and size and it ripens its fruits to provide an unparalleled, complex and nuanced flavor profile and eating experience. The Black Madeira family of figs, including Figo Preto, BM UCD, BM KK and Violeta, all do very well in cooler climates like mine in Zone 6A with spring head starts and fall extended shuffling; warmer grow zones will typically do even better than mine without the extra care I implement to ensure maximum yield. In any case, the Black Madeira Triad is considered by many fig collectors as representing the epitome of complex flavor fig goodness and well worth any level of care and feeding. I grow almost 2 dozen Black Madeira family Triad plants in my orchard including half a dozen each of Figo Preto, BM UCD, BM KK plants in 10 gallon and 25 gallon containers as well as several Violeta plants in 10 gallons for comparative testing of grow medium mixtures and fertilizer types / rates and to maximize my ripe fruit yield; this triad of figs is consistently top notch and always hard to beat.

My Ourfigs and F4F forum name is Fygmalion.   I’ve been growing figs most of my adult life but since 2016 it’s been a passion of mine. My goal when I began this obsession was to grow and taste as many varieties as I could, to find the best of the best tasting figs for my personal collection.  This is still true today. Figo Preto is one of my designated keeper varieties.

You can find me on Facebook and Ourfigs fig forum.  My mature trees and rooted plants have been growing outside in direct sunlight since April 15th. All of my figs should be assumed to have been exposed in some way to FMV Fig Mosaic Virus.  When young, figs will often show more severe symptoms, but usually they grow out of this as long as good growing and fertilizing practices are in place.
