For auction in a 24oz cup ROCKAWAY GREEN.I won my Rockaway Green plant at auction last summer from EP (Ed).Who introduced this variety from Rockaway Beach Queens,New York.Its been a very sought after variety for several years running.It was a one year old with a few figs on it.They didn’t make it to ripen.I would assume due to combination of its youth and the horrible weather last season.l here in the northeast.My young tree will fruit this season.I looking very much forward the tasting this variety.If ep (ED)says it’s an excellent variety,cold hardy and the original mother tree lives near the ocean in Rockaway Queens.Its been thorough all types of weather near the beach and handles it well.Thats good enough for me to consider this variety a keeper.ED and I met at the the Staten Island fig festival some 7-8 years ago.We swapped several varieties also.Ed is a great guy and an asset to the fig community.Their is more information about this variety on the forums and the internet.Its a beautiful green fig with a blood red jammy looking pulp.When ripe its skin cracks vertically.The plant you see is the plant you will receive.I assume all figs have or have been exposed to FMV.
