I NEVER heard Thierry state any fig as exceptional until this new variety of his. Let me start this sales pitch off with Thierry characterizing this fig as "really exceptional" and "fertile as delicious". Crozes was originally discovered in Dordogne, France, known for it's ancient history (prehistoric cave paintings, St-Front Cathedral, and Roman ruins).
I brought 2 of these trees to FigFest for the white elephant giveaway we held. Out of multiple well-known fig enthusiasts from OurFigs and the plethora of trees available, THIS variety of tree was the number 1 AND the number 2 pick, beating out Golden Rainbow, Bergen Unknown, CLBC, and so many other top contenders! You can see the video yourself HERE (timestamp 16:20).
The Crozes is a really deep black fig. It is recommended the fig is left on the tree to dry a little to really concentrate the flavors (this is a very heat tolerant variety). This tree is supposed to be a very heavy producer, and a little earlier of a producer. I am anticipating this to have fruit ready for picking in August here in zone 7 based off the ripening times in France. My tree is the same size as the one in the picture and has not yet matured. I am offering an extra tree from my collection of rooted cuttings.

KYS - Know Your Seller! There are a lot of people selling fig trees and fig tree cuttings that are NOT what they represent. Sadly, you will not know until a year or 2 later when there is little recourse. Simple searches of usernames on the internet can prevent this.
