Description

Fully brown (lignified). Celeste is the mother fig of all LSU Figs like LSU Gold, LSU Purple, LSU Tiger and so on.

I have made lots of clones of this tree and it is very fun and easy. A wonderful hobby and I am glad to share with you all! Thank you for looking!

I have three healthy and very productive celeste fig trees that are 50+ years old. Grown just south of Macon, GA. These trees are a clone of a celeste strain that existed on a family farm in Macon, GA since the 1900s verified, but who knows how old it is. The current living heir to this farm is an older gentleman, and his grandfather was the one who worked this farm when he was growing up. I met him while renovating his home, which is next door to me. This tree was given as a gift to his mother's best friend. They couldn't bear to be apart, even having a gate connecting their yards. This tree has years of history and friendship built into it, as well as having a history as far as the strain and source for quite some time.

Since this woman passed who originally bought the home in 1967, her friendship still lives on in this gift that continues to give!

The fruits range from 10-20g, with a medium lavender when fully ripe, very closed eye, even when ripe. Leaves range from one lobe, three lobe, to five lobe. Most common shape is 3 lobe, many with nubby 5 lobes. Fruit is very sweet, sugary. No signs of FMV present, nor are fig wasps or fig mites present in my area. If you have additional concerns about this, please feel free to ask anything.

Pictures are from this year, with figs almost ripe, but they do get darker in color.

You will get TEN (10) cuttings from 6 to 10 inches long. Most will be about 7-8 inches long. They will all be of adequate thickness for rooting (1/4 to 3/4 inch thick approximately). As this is a mature tree, the nodes tend to be close together, so it is even easier to root, due to the increased density of stem cells in the nodes. Please see pictures and feel free to ask any questions.

Picture 1: Close up of leaves and fig. 2: zoomed out of mature tree. 3: Examples of what the cuttings will look like.

Note: The cuttings in the photo are not the exact cuttings you will get, as I cut them to order fresh, however they are good examples of what you will get.

Will be shipped priority $8, or first class $4.50. I suggest Priority.

Winner will receive information about the location of this fig tree, as well as the current names of those who owns the farm where this tree came from upon request.

*it says 10 I meant 5
