  I have grown Smith since 2012 and it is a very good producing tree.  My source for my Smith is from Roy Young Nursery (Fruit Ranch) in Abbeville, La where I purchased my tree from Mr Young.   Mr. Young sold fig trees at his nursery that he produced off his own fig orchard.   Description of Smith from a LSU Field Day I attended:
    A superior, heirloom variety that has been in the Becnel family of Plaquemines Parish for over 100 years.  It is a big, flattened, yellow fig with brown shading.  The color of the flesh is deep red and it has a drop of honey at the eye.  The quality of this exceptionally sweet fig is outstanding.  The fruit ripens 5-7 days after Celeste.
