A Sangue is an ancient Italian fig, whose name translates to "blood", originates from the Brindisi and Valle d'Itria areas. It produces one crop which starts ripening in late August through September. The figs are medium to large, with a green to yellow skin, and deep blood red pulp. It was thought to require pollination but has been proven to be common, ripening figs outside of wasp territory. The taste has been described as juicy, sweet, and aromatic with a bit of acidity.
