Unknown fig found near La Costa Canyon in San Diego County coastal area.
This midseason fig has a closed eye with soft skin and moderate seed crunch.
Medium size fruit with very rich intense berry flavor and a nice acid balance. The skin bleeds to the pulp when ripen.
My unbiased family liked it better than some of the top tier figs (blind tested) and my kids named it La Costa Jewell
It is a very promising variety, and it seems to be a common fig as the seeds float on the seed sink test.
This is a second-year I am trailing this variety. The cutting I started in the spring is vigorous and produced the fruits on each node, however, I was not able to taste the fruits from my plant due to raccoon devastations.
The picture of the fruit is from the mother tree.
You will receive 2 nice and fresh cuttings pictured, washed and sanitized.
