Description

You are bidding on three Pastiliere cuttings that were chosen among the group of cuttings shown in the photo.  Each cutting has at least 3 nodes.   They were taken on Nov. 17, 2018 from my in-ground tree (see photo) have been refrigerated since then. The source of this variety is Paolo Belloni.  My tree is very healthy (no fmv symptoms though it may be carrying the virus) and among the most robust growers I have.  I have found this an excellent fig for in-ground growing in Maryland zone 7a and have described my experiences with this variety on ourfigs.com.  All of my in-ground figs were heavily damaged by two weeks of extreme cold January, 2018.  Among my in-ground trees, Pastiliere was the first to put out a green bud in the Spring, the first to start developing figlets, and was the first tree to ripen a fig (on August 15).  I expect it to ripen figs much earlier in a season following a normal winter.  This variety has a reputation for dropping figs but my tree growing in its 3rd season only dropped about 1/3 of the main crop figs.  With more maturity I expect that it will drop less and less.  The dark figs with red pulp have an excellent flavor.  This variety seems to be a main crop fig only; however, occasional brebas are possible.  In summary, this short season variety has all the qualities you would want for in-ground growing in areas with cool winters and, of course,  would do great as a container fig as well.

Please note I will only ship to the lower 48 U.S. states. I cannot ship internationally.
