Description

Welcome! Up for sale are cuttings from my family heirloom tree that has been in my grandparents' yard in Brooklyn, NY (Zone 7) since at least 1960. It has survived unprotected throughout all those years. It is similar in characteristic to Sal's Corleone type figs and has excellent flavor with elements of berry, melon and honey. It is open-eyed. Fruit are medium sized and it produces figs at every node on new growth. It ripens both a breba and main crop. Breba ripens late June-July in our zone and main crop from late August-late October. It is able to withstand temperatures into the low single digits unprotected before it will die back to the ground, but this is not an issue for us because the new growth still ripens excellent fruits! It is a vigorous grower. This tree originates in Southern Italy. I will be shipping bundles of 3 cuttings, each with a minimum of 3 nodes via USPS small flat rate boxes. Cuttings will be taken from the tree in the photos. Shipping to the U.S. only. Please see my post on ourfigs for more information on the story behind this tree and why I chose to name it Bonavita if you are interested: https://www.ourfigs.com/forum/figs-home/287030-unknown-brooklyn-fig. Thank you for your time and please ask me any questions you have. Good luck!
