Salce Italian Fig. 2 Healthy Cuttings.

I originally received cuttings of this variety from an Italian gentleman who lives near Morgantown, KY. This gentleman  had originally received Salce (along with a few other varieties) via a family member from the Molise region of Italy. Pictures and information first became available to most of us by way of the (now defunct ) Figs4Fun discussion forum.

Salce (pronounced SAWL-CHAY) is a beautiful yellowish fig that most often blushes to red. The pulp is mostly pinkish in color. Great tasting fig.

The Italian fellow that I got this variety from once told a story of how his family considered this fig to be 'superior to other figs and that all the other figs should be fed to the pigs' LOL! Not my words but quoted from him.

The parent tree that has been growing for years near Morgantown, KY produces loads of ripe figs each year (the fruits pictured are from this tree). The tree is grown outdoors in-ground with some winter protection. The owner uses a tarp to cover it in late fall (usually November).

In the 4th picture, Salce is in the background. This shot gives a good size comparison with Troiano Calabrese (a larger green fig).

In this auction you will receive two fresh cuttings about 8-9" in length.
